The 2024 First Nations Superannuation Summit, scheduled for the 22nd of February on Gadigal land, will, for the first time, be hosted by First Nations Foundation, providing an Indigenous-led and community-centric approach to improving superannuation outcomes for our people.

Thesummit will address critical issues faced by Indigenous communities, and the Financial Counsellors and Capability workers who support them, when it comes to managing and accessing superannuation. 

The purpose of the event is to identify priority areas for superannuation funds and Government to uplift their services for Indigenous members in 2024.

Chairperson, First Nations Foundation

A Yorta Yorta man, Ian has extensive government and community sector experience, particularly at executive and governance levels. Ian has overseen major policy and strategic reforms for government and community organisations. He works with people from a vast array of backgrounds, managing complex and sensitive relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Ian chairs and is a member of a number of boards, including the Indigenous Land & Sea Corporation, the Community Broadcast Foundation, Connecting Home, The Healing Foundation, Holmesglen TAFE, First Nations Foundation and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  He is also devoting himself to improving the representation of Aboriginal people on boards and other high-level governance, through strategic action, advocacy and mentoring.

Binowee Bayles
Head of Indigenous Programs, AMP

Binowee is a proud Koori woman, born and raised on Gadigal Country in Redfern, Sydney; and is the second youngest of her seven sisters. Her mother descends from the Eora and Wonnarua Nations of NSW and her Father descends from the Birri Gubba, Gungalu and Wulli Wulli Nations from Central to North QLD.

Binowee is the Head of Indigenous Programs at AMP Limited, providing cultural oversight to both AMP and Collimate (formerly AMP Capital), throughout her five-year tenure. She is responsible for the development and implementation of the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan, which continues to deepen our shared connections, strengthens inclusion and diversity, and promote economic inclusion throughout AMP’s diversified financial services business lines.

Destiny Dewis
Project Manager – On Country program

Destiny is a proud Aboriginal, Torres Strait and South Sea Islander woman with a successful career spanning several decades. She began her journey working in tourism before transitioning into early childhood education and then onto community services and more specifically community finance. This led her to joining the First Nations Foundation in June of 2022.

A passionate advocate for empowering the next generation of Indigenous people, she believes in the importance of early education as a way of developing career pathways. Her experience in financial and community development has allowed her to assist the First Nations Foundation with their goal of providing instrumental financial education.

Adam Davids
Founder, Equity Partners

Adam Davids is a descendant of the Wiradjuri people, a Fulbright Scholar, board member of Social Ventures Australia and CareerTrackers as well as the Managing Director of First Nations Equity Partners. His upbringing in Wagga and Sydney’s south-west inspired him to become a social entrepreneur.

As one of the pioneers behind the national not-for-profit organisations CareerTrackers and CareerSeekers, Adam has supported thousands of First Nations university graduates, asylum seekers and refugees in pursuing professional and managerial careers in the private sector.

Adam has established a network of leading academics, NGOs, and business leaders around the world to promote equity, justice, and the self-determination of racial minorities. His career and research have shed light on global issues around racial wealth inequality, the not-for-profit sector, and the role of corporations to address racial equity.

Peter Morris
General Manager, Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Program, Reconciliation Australia

Peter has dedicated his career to building a more inclusive society that values and benefits from the resilience and ingenuity of First Peoples. Prior to his time leading the RAP program at Reconciliation Australia, he served for eight years in executive leadership at the National Congress of American Indians, the representative body of tribes and Native peoples in the United States. Peter holds a Bachelors in Aboriginal Studies from the University of New South Wales and a Masters in American Indian Policy from the University of Arizona

Hon Stephen Jones MP
Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services 

Stephen grew up in the Illawarra and did all his schooling there, including graduating from Wollongong University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics. He then worked as a disability support worker while studying for his law degree at Macquarie University. He went on to work has an industrial relations lawyer and became National Secretary of the CPSU, one of Australia’s biggest and most progressive unions.

During his decade in Parliament he’s earned a reputation as a passionate advocate, a fearsome debater and a hardnosed policy wonk.
