About TelstraSuper

Telstra Super Pty Ltd was established in June 1990, as a subsidiary of Telstra Corporation Limited. Today, TelstraSuper is one of Australia’s leading profit-to-members super funds with around $21 billion in assets invested on behalf of members.

As an award winning fund, TelstraSuper is committed to providing competitive and cost-effective super services to our membership of current and former Telstra Group employees, employees of a Telstra-approved employer (Telstra stores), and their families. We offer an exceptional range of benefits to help our members achieve their retirement objectives.

Our commitment to all members

As one of Australia’s leading profit-to-member super funds, TelstraSuper acknowledges the important role we have to play in reconciliation.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work and live and pay our respects to the Elders past, present and emerging.

We believe that TelstraSuper can play an active role to ensure that all members – including our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members – are supported in the best way possible so they can achieve a dignified retirement. And even after 25 years of compulsory super, we know that these groups are too often receiving a poorer super experience than non-Indigenous Australians.

As such, TelstraSuper actively looks for ways to ensure our services are accessible and appropriate for the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

And while we at TelstraSuper are just beginning our reconciliation journey, we’ve already introduced a number of initiatives including:

  • Forming a partnership with national Indigenous non-profit First Nations Foundation to support Big Super Day Out events
  • Providing a training session for our contact centre staff about the challenges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples face when dealing with super and how best to assist
  • Developing a Vulnerable Consumers Working Group to identify and action areas of improvement within TelstraSuper

TelstraSuper’s partnership with First Nations Foundation

In June 2019, TelstraSuper formed a partnership with Indigenous non-profit First Nations Foundation. The partnership helps resource the First Nations Foundation’s “Big Super Day Out” - an Indigenous community event to help first Australians find their lost super, consolidate accounts, and become educated about the benefits that super offers. We sent volunteers from TelstraSuper and TelstraSuper Financial Planning to Broome, Darwin and Kununurra where more than $4.3 million in lost super was reunited.

In June 2019, TelstraSuper formed a partnership with Indigenous non-profit First Nations Foundation.

The partnership helps resource the First Nations Foundation’s “Big Super Day Out” – an Indigenous community event to help first Australians find their lost super, consolidate accounts, and become educated about the benefits that super offers.

We sent volunteers from TelstraSuper and TelstraSuper Financial Planning to Broome, Darwin and Kununurra where more than $4.3 million in lost super was reunited.

TelstraSuper Executive Manager, Marketing and Digital, Jean-Luc Ambrosi who volunteered at the Broome event said that he was delighted with the results but there was still more work to be done.

“The success of these events demonstrates why it’s so important for super funds to be involved – there’s such a big need for support in these communities and we all need to do our part to make sure the system is delivering for all members,” he said.

Mr Ambrosi reported spending more than three-hours with one local man who had previously tried to sort out his super with no success.

“Remote location combined with lack of appropriate documentation makes it almost impossible for some people to be able to take simple actions with their super, it’s clear the system needs to evolve.”

TelstraSuper looks forward to supporting further events in the future.
